- Preparing brisket is literally a scared ritual for people who adore barbecue and also for anyone who is from the Lone Star State. I was born and raised in California so obviously the latter doesn't apply to me but I'm a died in the wool, card carrying, real barbecue, barbecue lover!!! Give me some wood smoke and glowing charcoal and I'm one very happy camper. So honestly, this recipe was a little on the sacrilegious side for me. Brisket from the oven? Braised? Liquid Smoke? Ahhh.....Seriously? Ya think? Well, let me tell ya...Yes...seriously. Okay, so here's the dealeo about this brisket. Well, it's obviously NOT barbeque. It's not the preferred way to prepare this fabulous cut of meat. Okay. Okay. Got it. What it is, however, is an extremely delicious, relatively easy to prepare, fork tender, perfect for Sunday dinner kinda thang. So, let's be honest. Who amongst us doesn't like that sort of fab-u-lous-o meal?

woo hoo...a new posting and a great one!
ReplyDeleteI made this once overnight twenty years ago. I can't explain what happened, but I awoke to a bad situation where the air permeated with this. Very odd situation. Unless you have a smoker or a wood-burning grill with a section for smoking we don't recommend gas grills for brisket. I make a decent Texas brisket in slow cooker.
ReplyDeleteMy family would love this! Sounds great:)
ReplyDeleteI've been looking to tackle making a brisket. All of you so far south of me make it sound like I'm missing out. Liquid smoke does seem kind of scary, but if it is Sunday supper good it can't be wrong.
ReplyDeleteWe love brisket and I've been searching for a new recipe for a while. Thank you for sharing, I will be making this soon!!
